Essays

Probably as a result of my education, I find that I like to write essays about those topics that interest me.  Keep in mind that these comments are mostly off-the-cuff remarks.  I do my share of reading, so my facts are based on what I can recall from articles, web sites, etc.--not on intensive research.

Some of these essays were letters to editors of various newspapers in the places I have lived.
